Nov 20 - Week 14 - Meeting 26 / Ensembles - Recital

Modern Dance II / Fall Recital 2025

Every semester, Modern Dance II is the host of a dance recital that brings the work created by the students during the semester to full fruition. This semester, students have choreographed solo and ensemble pieces which reflect their creative process. Their pieces reference the legacy of the forerunners of modern dance in Europe and North America.  The students' works, listed in the program below, are an expression of their own stories. Welcome to a space where dance art matters!

SOLOS & DUETS

Solo: The Physical Present

Dancer: Mia Scheidter

My solo is a representation of how I am using dance to get out of my head and connect to my physical body in the present. It is a journey of reaching deep within, going to the basic core of me and building myself back up in a newly integrated way with my body. I live a lot of my life in my head, and one of the main things that I've really noticed a difference in helping me get out of that is dancing, stretching and just really feeling and connecting my mind to my physical body. My solo is a reflection of how I am newly exploring my physical body to connect it to within, bridging the gap between my abstract thoughts and my physical feelings.

Dancer: Caged

Performer: Arantza Suarez

My solo is the story of someone exploring the boundaries of life [resembled within the kinesphere] and breaking free from norms to chase ones dreams/aspirations.

Duet: The Dolls

Dancers: Arantza Suarez, Mia Scheidter

Our duet is about two dolls who came to life and get to experience human physicality and emotion. They are figuring out that they can use their limbs, how to use their limbs, they that can connect with other and invade each other's spaces. As they dance and connect with each other, the also realize they can feel emotions and feelings, which are evoked as they explore their physical limits of their bodies.

ENSEMBLES

 1

Echoes

Mia, Anje, Maddie, Lily

Music:  Paradise Circus Gui Boratto Remix- Massive Attack (Start at minute 1:30)

Our ensemble is called echoes, representing how we all echo each other in our own frequencies. We all do the same movements, but have our own positioning, flare and individual elements that come together to make a cohesive piece. It is a reflection of how a group piece comes together because of the individuals that are a part of it, and the strength and impact the piece has wouldn't be possible without all the individual "echoes". Again, we dance in sync but aren’t together. We dance in “echos”
